Headaches

Scalp Acupuncture

Headache is a common symptom with so many causes. It is important to make a correct diagnosis in clinic before scalp acupuncture is given.

The selection of stimulation: upper two-fifths of the sensory area on both sides is selected for headache in the parietal region; lower two-fifths of the sensory area on the contralateral side is selected for headache in the frontal and temporal region. For pain on one side of the head, select the sensory area on the opposite side in general.

Releasing headache by scalp acupuncture can has good results in many cases. It can relieve angioneurotic headache, migraine and headache due to common cold in many patients. If the headache shows on the area of certain meridian, some acupoints on the meridian can be needled.
