Internal Medicine

Ding Gui San is the inherited prescription of  Shan Canggui from surgical medical family, and is composed of Ding Xiang 15g, Rou Gui 15g and Shan Nai 7.5g; be grinded into fine powder to mix into drugs. The main effect is regulating qi, reducing swelling, warming and eliminating coldness and opening meridians to relive pain. Professor Shan mainly treats neoplasm and seleredema etc due to pathogenic yin, coldness and stagnation. Director Aiming Liu treats chronic ulcer due to pathogenic yin, coldness, stagnation and obstruction of blood circulation to promote treating septic and rot. Besides the antibacterial activity in vitro and sterilization according to the modern pharmacological experimental reports, there are 3 more reasons for effective treatments of ulcer by Ding Gui San as follows: firstly, acrid and fragrant flavor can warm meridians and restore yang, “qi and blood will be promoted by scenting”, and all the drugs of acrid in flavor and warm nature has the functions of improving local tissues circulation and oxygenation capacity to fasten local metabolism and strengthen anti-infective capacity of wound. Secondly, wound turns positive from negative, increase of wound exudates from dry and stiff. It is proved that macrophages in the exudatum of these Chinese drugs get more and more active to mobilize the defense system of organism and strengthen anti-infection ability. Thirdly, the aqoeous solution of Ding Gui San is acidic (pH=4). Some data confirm that the hydrolysis of acid protease intensified to accelerate liquefaction and defluvium of necrotic tissues when the wounds are acidic. Therefore, the PH environment of wounds is changed by external application of Ding Gui San to accelerate the defluvium of necrotic tissues, dispel the rots and promote new birth of skins.
