Yin Yang Huo is flavor and warm in nature, has the functions of tonifying kidney, strengthening yang, tendons and bones, and applied widely in the clinic. The author has engaged in TCM gynecology department for many years and found some special usages of Yin Yang Huo in the treatment of gynecopathy gradually:
1. Promote ovulation. Apply Yin Yang Huo to tonify kidney and strengthen yang in the treatments of functional uterine bleeding, amenorrhea, infertility, etc.
2. Treat endometriosis. The basic pathogenesis of this disease is qi stagnation and blood stasis differentiated from cold deflection and heat deflection. Achieve twice the result with half the effort if add large dose of Yin Yang Huo for cold syndrome or add Yin Yang Huo used of corrigents for heat syndromes.
3. Treat chronic pelvic inflammation. The TCM thinks that the pathogenesis of this disease is damp; heat and toxin invade the vessels of the uterus and leads to qi stagnation and blood stasis. The author treats this disease with Yin Yang Huo to tonify kidney, support yang. The pathogenic damp goes when yang qi recovers.
4. Treat Osteoporosis. Kidney dominates bone and produces marrow. Kidney qi gets weaker and yin essence gets deficiency, therefore, the tendon and bone can’t be nourished and the pain in bones appears when menopause comes. The author add Yin Yang Huo to support yang on the basis of tonifying kidney and replenish essence to produce yin essence, flourish yang qi and keep balance with yin and yang.
