Chinese Massage

 (1) Contraindications

  • Various kind of acute infectious diseases
  • Compound fractures, open wound, and burns
  • Local infections and dermatosis
  • Hemophilia
  • Severe osteoporosis
  • Acute cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases
  • Perforation of the gastrointestinal tract, etc.

(2) Precautions

  • Psychotic patients
  • During pregnancy, or with postpartum lochiorrhea
  • Instability of vertebrae or apparent spur
  • Patients who tend to hypotension or hypoglycemia easily

(3) Attention

  • The therapist and the patient should cooperate well with each other
  • The patient better be physically and mentally relaxed
  • The room temperature should be kept well to prevent the patient from getting cold
  • The massage should be suspended if abnormalities appear
  • Extreme force should be avoided
  • External application of certain lubricating oil or cream can be used, especially for children.
