Tonify Deficiencies

1 TASTE
Pungent, sweet and warm


2 MERIDIANS
Liver and kidney


3 FUNCTIONS
1. To tonify the liver and kidneys; 2. To strengthen yang and control the essence


4 INDICATIONS
1. Deficiency of kidney yang manifested as impotence and cold pain in the lower back and knees. Chinese chive seed (Jiu Zi)is used with Cistanche (Rouconrong)and Morinda root (Ba Ji Tian)    2. Frequent urination or leukorrhea due to deficient kidneys. Chinese chive seed (Jiuzi) is used with Psoralea fruit (Bu Gu Zhi), Dioscorea (Shan Yao)and Bitter cardamom(Yi Zhi Ren)


5 DOSAGE
5-10 g (for decoction or pills)


6 COUTIONS
The herb is contraindicated in cases with deficiency of yin with excessive fire.
