3 FUNCTIONS
1. To calm the heart and tranquilize the mind; 2. To clear heat in the liver and brighten eyes.

4 INDICATIONS
1. Palpitations, irritability, insomnia, dream-disturbed sleep or infantile convulsions due to high fever, Purple cowrie shell (Zi Bei Chi [3]) is used with Coptis root (Huanlian), Mother-of-pearl (Zhen Zhu Mu [4]) and Antelope horn (Ling Yang Jiao [5]).2. Wind and heat in the liver meridian manifested as red, swollen and painful eyes or visual obstructions; or hyperactivity of liver yang manifested as dizziness, vertigo and headache. Purple cowrie shell (Zibeichi)is used with Chrysanthemum flower (Ju Hua [6]), Mulberry leaf (Sang Ye [7]) and Uncaria stem (Gouteneg).

5 DOSAGE
10-15 g

6 COUTIONS
The substance is cooked before the other herbs.
