Regional Anatomy:
Skin subcutaneous tissue-radiate sternocostal ligament and costoxiphoid ligament-xiphosternal synchondrosis.
There are the anterior cutaneous branches of the 6th intercostal nerve and the perforating branches of the internal thoracic artery and vein in this area.


Location:
Lie supinely; on the anterior median line, at the meeting point of sternal body and xiphoid process.
Function:
Normalizing the functions of the stomach, depressing upward-reverse flow of qi, and soothing the chest oppression.


Indications:
Distention and fullness in the chest and intercostal region, hiccup, nausea, and anorexia.


Prescription:
Combined use with TiantuCV22 (Tiantu (CV22) [3]) for treatment of vomiting of milk in infant; and with NeiguanPC6 (Neiguan (PC6) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point [4]) for treatment of cardiospasm.


Methods:
Insert the needle subcutaneously to 0.5-1 cun depth; needling response: local distention and numbness; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
Note:
 346. Zhongting (CV16) [5] Puncture the point shallowly and obliquely, and
not blindly.
