Acupuncture Points / Urine Bladder Meridian [2]

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-aponeurosis of latissimus muscle of the back-superficial layer of thoracolumbar fascia-erector spinal muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the cutaneous branches of the posterior branches of the 3rd and 4th lumbar nerves and the accompanying arteries and veins. In the deep layer, there are the muscular branches of the posterior branches of the 3rd and 4th lumbar nerves and the branches or tributaries of the dorsal branches of the related lumbar arteries and veins.


Location:
Lie pronely; firstly, locate MingmenGV4(Mingmen (GV4) [3]), 1 spinous process below and 1.5 cun apart from MingmenGV4(GV4)laterally.
Function:
Regulating the flow of qi and promoting blood circulation, and removing obstruction from the collaterals.


Indications:
Lumbosacral radiculitis, hemorrhoid, irregular menstruation, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, paralysis of lower limb, and hypertension.


Prescription:
Combined use with SanyinjiaoSP6 (Sanyinjiao (SP6) [4]), GuanyuanCV4 (Guanyuan (CV4) Front-Mu Point of the SmallIntestine [5]) for the treatment of dysfunctional uterine bleeding; with ChengshanBL57 (Chengshan (BL57) [6]) for the treatment of hemorrhoid; with ZhongjiCV3 (Zhongji (CV3) Front-Mu Point of the Bladder [7]) for treatmen of urocystitis; and with DachangshuBL25 (Dachangshu (BL25) [8]), XiaochangshuBL27 (Xiaochangshu (BL27) [9]), PangguangshuBL28 (Pangguangshu (BL28) [10]), ShangliaoBL31(Shangliao (BL31) [11]), ZhongliaoBL33 (Zhongliao (BL33) [12]), ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point [13]), SanyinjiaoSP6 (SP6) for treatmen of cystolith.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly,0.5-1 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension, radiating toward the lower region; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
