Internal Medicine

3. Obstruction of collaterals due to dampness and stasis: loose stool with dark red mucus and pus, sharp and fixed pain in lower abdomen relieved by defecation, tenderness, difficult stool without burning sensation,  dull complexion, dark red tongue or pale tongue with petechiae, white or white and thick tongue coating, wiry and thready, or slight hesitant pulse. Mu Xiang, Tan Xiang, Sha Ren, Dan Shen, Tao Ren, Ze Lan, Yi Mu Cao, Ma Bian Cao, Tian Qi, Chuan Xiong and Chi Shao are applied for regulating qi, and eliminating dampness; Feng Wei Cao, Bai Jiang Cao and Ma Chi Xian are added for activating and harmonizing blood.

4. Spleen deficiency and excess of dampness: loose stool or Diarrhea with repeated outbreak for long term, indigestion, poor appetite, abdominal distention after taking food, fatigue, sallow complexion, weakness of limbs, lack of qi, less speaking, pale tongue with white coating, or flabby tongue with tooth mark, tready and weak, or thready and rolling pulse. Huang Qi, Dang Shen, Bai Zhu, Fu Ling, Sheng Ma, Ge Gen, Huo Xiang, Mu Xiang and Chen Pi are applied for strengthening the spleen and ascending qi; Gu Mai Ya and Ji Nei Jin, etc. are added for promoting digestion and transportation, and strengthening the spleen; Gui Zhi, Gan Jiang and Liang Jiang are added for warming spleen yang.

5. The liver overacting the earth: abdominal pain followed with acute diarrhea, relieved by diarrhea, or accompanied?with indigestion, outbreak by emotional tension or vexation, irritability at ordinary times, bitter mouth, upsetting, distention and oppression in chest and hypochondria; thin tongue coating and wiry pulse. Chai Shao Liu Jun Wan is applied with modification.
