Kidney and spleen


3 FUNCTIONS
1. To tonify kidneys and strengthen yang; 2. To prevent emissions and nocturnal urination; 3. To warm the spleen and stop Diarrhea [3]


4 INDICATIONS
1. Deficient kidneys manifested as impotence and soreness and weakness of the lower back and knees. Psoralea fruit (Bu Gu Zhi [4]) is used with Dadder seed (Tu Si Zi [5]), Cistanche (Rou Cong Rong [6])and Eucommia bark (Du Zhong [7]).    2. Nocturnal urination and emissions due to kidney deficiency. Psoralea fruit (Buguzhi) is used with Bitter cardamom (Yi Zhi Ren [8]) and Dioscorea (Shan Yao [9]).    3. Diarrhea due to deficiency of yang of the spleen and kidneys. Psoralea fruit (Buguzhi) is used with Evodia fruit (Wu Zhu Yu [10]), Nutmeg (Rou Dou Kou [11]) and Schisandra fruit (Wu Wei Zi [12]) in the formula Sishen Wan.


5 DOSAGE
5-10g


6 COUTIONS
This herb is contraindicated in cases with deficiency of yin with excessive fire as well as constipation.
