3 FUNCTIONS
1. To clear heat and subdue endogenous wind; 2. To soothe asthma; 3. To promote urination; 4.To the collaterals.


4 INDICATIONS
1. Convulsions and spasms due to high fever, Earthworm (Di Long [3]) is used with Uncaria stem (Gou Teng [4]), White-stiff silkworm (Baijiangcan) and Scorpion (Quan Xie [5]).2. Damp-heat obstruction syndrome manifested as red, swollen, painful joints and motor impairment. Earthworm (Dilong) is used with Mulberry twigs (Sang Zhi [6]), Honeysuckle stem (Rendongteng) and Red peony (Chi Shao [7]).3. Wind-cold-damp obstruction syndrome manifested as cold, painful joints with motor (Caowu) and Arisaema tuber (Tian Nan Xing [8]) in the formula Xiao Hulou Dan.4. Hemiplegia due to obstruction of meridians by qi deficiency and blood stagnation. Earthworm (Dilong) is used with Chinese angelica root (Dang Gui [9]), Chuan Xiong [10] rhizome (Chuanxiong) and Astraglaus root (Huang Qi [11]) in the formula Buyang Hunanwu Tang.5. Heat accumulated in the urinary bladder manifested as dysuria. Earthworm (Dilong ) is used with Plantain seed (Che Qian Zi [12]) and Clematis stem (Mu Tong [13]).6. Asthma. Earthworm (Dilong) is used with Ephedra (Ma Huang [14]) and Apricot seed (Xing Ren [15]).


5 DOSAGE
5-15 g (10-20 g if fresh)
