4 INDICATIONS
1. Internal stirring up of liver wind manifested as spasms and convulsions. Gastrodia tuber (Tian Ma [3]) is used with Uncaria stem (Gou Teng [4]) and Scorpion (Quan Xie [5]).2. Spasms or convulsions in tetanus. Gastrodia tuber (Tianma) is used with Ledebouriella (Fang Feng [6]), Arisaema tuber (Tian Nan Xing [7]) and Typhonium tuber (Bai Fu Zi [8]) in the formula Yuzhen (BL9) [9] San.3. Headache and dizziness due to hyperactivity of liver yang Gastrodia tuber (Tianma) is used with Uncaria stem (Gouteng), Scutellaria root (Huang Qin [10]) and Cyathula root (Niu Xi [11]) in the formula Tianma Gouteng Yin.4. Vertigo and dizziness caused by upward attack of wind-phlegm due to deficiency of the spleen and stagnation of qi in the liver. Gastrodia tuber (Tianma) is used with Pinellia tuber (Ban Xia [12]), White atractylodes (Bai Zhu [13]) and Poria (Fu Ling [14]) in the formula Banxia Baizhu Tianma Tang.5. Unilateral headache (Migraine) and frontal headache. Gastrodia tuber (Tianma) is used with Chuan Xiong [15] rhizome (Chuanxiong) in the formula Tianma Wan.6. Pain due to wind-damp obstruction (joint pain). Gastrodia tuber (Tianma) is used with Frankincense (Ru Xiang [16]) and Scorpion (Quanxie).7. Numbness of limbs due to deficient blood in the channels. Gstrodia tuber (Tianma) is used with Chinese angelica root (Dang Gui [17]) and Cyathula root (Niuxi).


5 DOSAGE
3-10 g; 1-1.5 g for powder
