Clinical Application Experience of Acupuncture on Hegu (LI4) Yuan-Source Point [1]

Hegu (LI4) Yuan-Source Point [3] is the origin point of hand Taiyang large intestine meridian, which is one of the key points of rehabilitation and health maintenance, it is the strengthening point. This point can be used for all the head and facial diseases, such as facial paralysis, headache, toothache etc. It is also the key point for pain relief and appeasement, which can be applied for various pains, and is the basic point for acupuncture anesthesia. Besides, it is commonly used point for hemiplegia, abdominal pain, Diarrhea [4], dysmenorrhea etc.
Protection and treatment function:
(1) Head-face and five sensory organs disease
(2) Gynecology diseases: menischesis, prolong labour
(3) Gastrointestinal disease: stomach ache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, dysentery
(4) Other diseases: heat disease, malaria, anhidrosis, hyperhidrosis, hemiplegia, arm pain and finger spasm, urticaria, scabies, convulsion in children
(5) Commonly used point for pain relief and acupuncture anesthesia: can be used for various pain diseases, such as headache, stomach ache, abdominal pain, dysmonorrhea, shoulder and arm pain, lumbar pain, toothache etc, it is the anesthesia point and post-op pain relief point  for various surgeries.
