“When cold damage is treated with purging, and this is followed by incessant clear-food Diarrhea [3] and generalized pain, one should urgently relieve the interior disease.  After treating the interior, if there is generalized pain, and the excretions become regulated, one should urgently relieve the exterior disease.  For relieving the interior disease Si Ni Tang is appropriate; for relieving the exterior disease Gui Zhi [4] Tang is appropriate.”

“When in illness fever and head ache, but the pulse is sunken, and if after taking Ma Huang [5] Xi Xin [6] Fu Zi [7] Tang there is no recovery and there is generalized pain, one should relieve the interior.  Si Ni Tang is appropriate.”
