“When the patient’s pulse is rapid, rapidity means heat, so there should be rapid hungering and large food intake, but if instead there is vomiting, this is because the promotion of sweating caused yang qi debilitation and diaphragm qi vacuity and therefore the pulse is rapid.  A pulse that is rapid means visiting heat and the person cannot digest food.  Because there is vacuity cold in the stomach, there is vomiting.”

“when sweating should have been promoted originally, yet purging was used, this is an adverse treatment.  If sweating is first promoted, it is not adverse treatment.  When purging should have been used originally, but sweating is promoted, this is an adverse treatment.  If purging is first used, it is not an adverse treatment.”
