Shaoyang is a hinge; therefore Shaoyang disease often happens simultaneously with external or internal syndromes. If the patient not only has Shaoyang symptoms, but also has fever, slightly aversion to cold, body and joints pain, slight vomit and fullness in stomach, it will be Shaoyang plus external syndrome. If the patient not only has Shaoyang symptoms, but also has alternative chill and fever, or constantly vomiting, uncomfortable feeling below the heart area, gloomy and slightly irritable, or hot flashes, constipation etc., it will be the Shaoyang plus internal excess heat syndrome.
