The Emperor asked: "Generally, febrile diseases pertain to cold damage type diseases. Patients recover or die. The time of death is usually in six or seven days, or the recuperation time is usually more than ten days. Why is it so? Explain this please."

Qi Bo answered: "All yang channels are ascribed to the foot Taiyang bladder channel. The foot Taiyang bladder channel connects with Fengfu (GV16) [3], so it is the chief of all yang channels. If a man is impaired by exogenous evils, fever may occur. Even though the fever is high, the patient will not die. If getting dual contraction of evils, the patient maybe will not survive from the disease."
