The Emperor asked: "Why are there some diseases that are not in accordance with the rule?"

Qi Bo answered: "Yes. These diseases do not respond to the yang qi of the four seasons. The ill zang-organ solitarily governs the disease. Therefore, if the five elements attribute of the ill zang-organ is controlled by that of the day or time, the disease will be aggravated. If the five-element attribute of the ill zang-organ controls that of the day or time, the disease will be alleviated."
