Chinese Medicine Classic / Nei Jin [2]

If the heavenly qi is clear and balance, one’s mental state will be normal. Obedience to it makes the yang qi secure. Though evils exist, they cannot poison men. These are actions responding to the orders of time. Therefore, sages concentrate their minds, acclimatize themselves to the heavenly qi, and integrate the qi of yin and yang of nature with their own. If one violates this rule, the nine orifices will be obstructed inside, the muscles will be congested outside, and the defensive qi will dissipate. This is called self-injury, because the yang qi has been consumed.
