Regarding the yin and yang of a human body, the exterior is yang, and the interior is yin. Regarding the yin and yang of the body, the back is yang, and the abdomen is yin. Regarding the zang-fu organs, the zang-organs are yin, and the fu-organs are yang. The five zang-organs are yin. The six fu-organs are yang.

What about the yin within yang and the yang within yin? The yin (kidneys) gets ill in winter, and the yang (heart) gets ill in summer. The yin (liver) gets ill in spring, and the yang (lungs) get ill in autumn. Acupuncture should be used in terms of the disordered places. The back is yang. The heart is the yang within yang, and lungs are the yin within yang. The abdomen is yin. The kidneys are the yin within yin, and the liver is the yang within yin.
