The cutaneous pruritus can be paroxysmal in nature, usually lasting for a few hours. Drinking or eating spicy food may make it worse. Cutaneous pruritus is more serious in night time. Sometimes, it can be so severe that people cannot stop to scratch the skin until blood out of the skin and the itching is offset by pain. The patient’s skin is often covered with scratches, bloody spots and pigmentation.

The selection of stimulation: Motor and sensory area of foot and upper two-fifths of the sensory area.

Scalp acupuncture may cure itching in some patients.
