Relationship Between EVB of Liver Cirrhosis and Five Elements rhythmic variation in Traditional Chinese medicine [1]

EVB is the most serious complication of portal hypertension cirrhosis, therefore, it is necessary to search out some methods of bleeding forecast to reduce mortality rate. This article analyzes the rules of bleeding by yin, yang and five elements rhythmic variation of human body in Traditional Chinese medicine [3] to carry out preliminary discussions of bleeding forecast. All these 50 cases are diagnosed as liver cirrhosis by medical history, physical, laboratory examination and type-B ultrasonic. All the patients have hematemesis and melena, and are diagnosis as EVB by emergency gastroscope (24~48 hours after bleeding) after admission. The standard of diagnosis is varicose vein ejecting, exudating, or attached with bright red blood crusts, and bleeding excluding caused by peptic ulcers and gastrosis of portal hypertension. The diseases are divided into four seasons according to the year, month and date of bleeding. Spring begins (4th of February), summer begins (6th of May), autumn begins (8th of August), and winter begins (7th of Novermber). Calculate the Trunk-lateral of the bleeding day by Trunk-lateral discipline of traditional Chinese medicine [4].

Results: in the bleeding seasons, the bleeding rate in autumn is higher than the other two seasons (P<0.01), and it in winter is higher than in both spring and summer. In the Heavenly Stems of bleeding day way, the incidence is highest in Ren Gui day, and the next is Jia Yi day and Geng Xin day (P<0.05).
