Treatment of 121 cases on combination of hypertension with high blood fat given by Shuang Jiang Tang [1]

We used Shuang Jiang Tang made by ourselves to treat hypertension combined with high blood fat and obtained good effect.

There are totally 121 patients with average age of 58 years old and duration from 2 to 27 years. There are 17 patients with hypertension stage I, 76 with stage II and 28 with stage III. According to TCM differentiation, there are 20 cases caused by hyperactivity of liver yang rising; 15 cases by yin deficiency; 32 cases by qi and blood stagnation; 36 cases by retention of phlegm; 13 cases by qi and yin deficiency. There are 25 patients with individually increased cholesterol, 23 patients with individually increased triglyceride and 72 patients with both increased. Treatment method: Shuang Jiang Tang includes Dan Shen [3] 20g, Ge Gen [4] 15g, Shan Zha [5] 15g, Huang Qi [6] 15g, Chi Shao [7] 10g, Dang Gui [8] 10g, Hong Hua [9] 10g, Tian Zhu Huang 10g, Ban Xia [10] 10g, Ze Xie [11] 10g, Bai Zhu [12] 10g. We add Tian Ma [13], Gou Teng [14] and Shi Jue Ming [15] for hyperactivity of liver yang rising; add Nu Zhen Zi [16], Han Lian Cao [17] and Gou Teng for yin deficiency; add Tao Ren [18], Shui Zhi [19] for qi and blood stagnation; add Chang Pu, Yu Jin [20] for retention of phlegm; add Tai Zi Shen [21], Nu Zhen Zi and Han Lian Cao for qi and yin deficiency. One-month treatment becomes one course and patients continue three courses. Treatment result: 1. Effect to lower blood pressure: 22 cases with obviously effective, 74 with improved and 25 with no effect, total effective rate are 79.4%. 2. Effect to eliminate symptoms: 24 cases with obviously effective, 89 with improved and 8 with no effect, total effective rate are 93.4%. 3. Effect to lower blood fat: for individually increased cholesterol, 9 obviously effective, 13 improved and 3 no effect; for individually increased triglyceride, 7 obviously effective, 14 improved and 2 no effect; for both cholesterol and triglyceride increased, 28 obviously effective, 32 improved and 12 no effect.
