The main treatment is based on meridians differentiation, and the author did observations on 111 cases of headache patients who were treated by needling.
Prescription: The Taiyang headache: Houding (GV19) [3], Fengchi (GB20) [4], UB10 and UB60. The Shaoyang headache: Extra Taiyang, GB20, Shuaigu (GB8) [5] and Yanglingquan (GB34) He-Sea Point, Influential Point of Tendon [6]. The Yangming headache: Shangxing (GV23) [7], Extra Yintang, Hegu (LI4) Yuan-Source Point [8] and Neiting (ST44) Ying-Spring Point [9]. The secondary points: Applying Baihui (GV20) [10] for vertex pain, GB20 and LI4 for external pathogenic wind; LI4 and ST44 for excess heat of stomach, Fenglong (ST40) Luo-Connecting Point [11] for stagnation of damp and phlegm in middle triple energizer, GV20 and LV3 for hyperactive of liver yang, Xuehai (SP10) [12] and Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point [13] for deficiency of qi and blood.
Curative effect observation: The total effective rate is 90%. In 111 cases, the longest course is 16 times acupuncture treatment and the shortest one is 3 times.
