Stomach Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-between tensor muscle of fascia lata and sartorius muscle-rectus muscle of thigh-lateral vastus muscle of thigh.
In the superficial layer, there is the lateral cutaneous nerve of the thigh. In the deep layer, there are the ascending branches of the lateral circumflex femoral artery and vein and muscular branches of the femoral nerve.


Location:
1. Supine position; at the meeting point of the line connecting anterior superior iliac spine and the lateral border of basis patellae and the line extending from the gluteal transverse
stria. 2. Press FutuST32 (Futu (ST32)) with the midpoint of the 1st palmar transverse stria, extend the palm flatly, the point were the tip of the middle finger touches is BiguanST31 (Biguan (ST31)).
Function:
Strengthening the lumbar region and the knee, and clearing and activating channels and collaterals.


Indications:
Pain in the thigh, muscular atrophy, motor impairment , and numbness and pain of the lower extremities.


Prescription:
Combined use with YanglingquanGB34 (Yanglingquan (GB34) He-Sea Point, Influential Point of Tendon) for treatment of hemiplegia; with FengshiGB31 (Fengshi (GB31)) for treatment of neuritis of lateral cutaneous nerve of thigh.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly 1-2 cun deep; needling response: local sensation of distension, irradiating toward the leg; moxibustion: using 5-7 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 20 min.
