Stomach Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-anterior sheath of rectus muscle of abdomen-rectus muscle of abdomen.
In the superficial layer, there are the lateral and anterior cutaneous branches of the anterior braches of the 7th to 9th thoracic nerves of the superficial epigastric vein. In the deep layer, there are the branches or tributaries of the superior epigastric artery and vein and the muscular branches of the anterior branches of the 7th to 9th thoracic nerves.


Location:
Supine position; 3 cun above the level of umbilicus, 2 cun apart from the midline of the abdomen laterally .
Function:
Regulating the intestine and stomach, and inducing diuresis.


Indications:
Abdominal distension and pain, anorexia, borborygmus, Diarrhea, and edema.


Prescription:
Combined use with ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of dysentery; and with GuanyuanCV4 (Guanyuan (CV4) Front-Mu Point of the SmallIntestine), ShuidaoST28 (Shuidao (ST28)) and SanyinjiaoSP6 (Sanyinjiao (SP6)) for treatment of a feeling of masses of gas ascending within the abdomen like running piggies; with GuanyuanCV4 (CV4) and ShenmenHT7 (Shenmen (HT7) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Primary Point) for treatment of enuresis.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly 0.5-1 cun deep; needling response: local sensation of distension; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, mild moxibustion for 15 min.
