Lung Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutsnrous tissue-ulnar border of tendon of brachioradial muscle-quadrate pronator muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the lateral cutaneous nerve of the forearm and the superficial branches of the radial nerve. In the deep layer, there are the radial artery and vein.


Location:
1 cun proximally apart from the transverse stria of the wrist on the pulsating location of the radial artery, when the thumb and the palm are supinated. Also, at the point where the middle finger a of doctor touches during pulse-taking.
Function:
Promoting the dispersing
Function of the lung and relieving sore-throat, regulating the flow of Qi and lowering the adverse flow of Qi.


Indications:
Cough, asthma, fullness of in chest, pain in the chest and back; epigastralgia, vomiting; febrile disease with anhidrosis, sore-throat, frequent yawning, malarial disease, heat in the palm, pain in the sole, pain in the medial side of the forearm, pain in the wrist, etc.


Prescription:
Combined with FutuLI18 (Futu (LI18)) for treatment of tonsillitis; with ChizeLU5 (Chize (LU5)He-Sea Point) and FeishuBL13 (Feishu (BL13)) for treatment of bronchial asthma; with QiuxuGB40 (Qiuxu (GB40) Yuan-Primary Point), YujiLU10 (Yuji (LU10) Ying-Spring Point), KunlunBL60 (Kunlun (BL60) Jing-River Point) and JingguBL64 (Jinggu (BL64) Yuan-Source Point ) for treatment of back pain.


Methods:
Direction: Puncture obliquely upward or perpendicularly, avoid injuring the artery; depth: 0.3-0.5 cun; needling response: local sensation of numbness and distention; moxibustion: 3-5 moxa-cones, mild moxibustion for 15 min.
