Regional Anatomy:
Chengjiang (CV24) Skin subcutaneous tissue-orbicular muscle of moyth-depressor muscle of lower lip-mental muscle.
There are the mental nerve of the inferior alveolar nerve and the mental artery and vein in this area.
Location:
Proper sitting with one's back propped; in the depression at the centre of groove on the midpoint of the line connecting lower lip and tip of chin.
Function:
Removing wind and dredging the collaterals, tranquilizing the mind and relieving thirst.
Indications:
Facial puffiness, swelling of the gums, toothache, salivation, mental disorders, and deviation of the eyes and mouth.
Prescription:
Combined use with ShuigouGV26 (Shuigou (GV26)) and ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of collapse; with LianquanCV23 (Lianquan (CV23)) for treatment of salivation; with WeizhongBL40 (Weizhong (BL40) He-Sea Point, Lower Confluent Point) for treatment of epistaxis; with JiacheST6 (Jiache (ST6)) for treatment of infantile tetanus; and with YinlingquanSP9 (Yinlingquan (SP9) He-Sea Point), WeizhongBL40 (BL40), TaichongLR3 (Taichong (LR3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point), PangguangshuBL28 (Pangguangshu (BL28)), and DadunLR1 (Dadun (LR1) Jing-Well Point) for treatment of incontinence of urine.
Methods:
Insert the needle subcutaneously to 1-1.5 cun depth; needling response: local distention and pain; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
