Triple Energizer (San Jiao) Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-brachial triceps muscle.
In the superficial layer, there is the posterior brachial cutaneous nerve. In the deep layer, there are the anteriovenous network of the elbow joint and the muscular branches of the radial nerve.


Location:
With arms akimbo, in the depression 1 cun posterior to and above the tip of the elbow ( olecranon ).
Function:
Clearing the fire, tranquilizing the mind, resolving masses, and removing obstruction in the channels.


Indications:
Disorders of the elbow joint, migraine, swollen paropia, blepharitis ciliaris, tonsillitis, urticaria, stiff neck, schizophrenia, mental depression, tuberculosis of lymph nodes, bronchitis, laryngalgia, neuralgia of neck and nape, and apoplexy.


Prescription:
Combined use with BinaoLI14 (Binao (LI14)) for treatment of cervical lymphadenitis; with ZhiyangGV9 (Zhiyang (GV9)) for treatment of multiple boils; with ChizeLU5(Chize (LU5)He-Sea Point), ShaohaiHT3 (Shaohai (HT3) He-Sea Point), WeizhongBL40 (Weizhong (BL40) He-Sea Point, Lower Confluent Point), YangfuGB38 (Yangfu (GB38) Jing-River Point) for treatment of wind-induced arthralgia; and with JuqueCV14 (Juque (CV14) Front-Mu Point of the Heart) and XinshuBL15 ( Xinshu (BL15)) for treatmentof heart trance.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 0.3-1 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
