Triple Energizer (San Jiao) Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-ulnar extensor muscle of wrist-extensor muscle of indexfinger-interosseous membrane of forearm.
In the superficial layer, there are the posterior cutaneous nerve of the forearm and the tributaries of the besilic vein. In the eep layer, there are the branches or the tributaries of the posterior interosseous artery and vein of the forearm and the branches of the posterior interosseous nerve of the forearm.


Location:
Strech the arm, pronate the palm; 3 cun above the dorsal stria of the wrist, on the ulnar side of ZhigouTE6(Zhigou (TE6)), and radial border of ulna.
Function:
Clearing away the fire from Sanjiao, tranquilizing the mind, and removing obstruction from the channels and collaterals.


Indications:
Deafness, espilepsy, pain in the upper limbs.


Prescription:
Combined use with TaichongLR3 (Taichong (LR3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point) for treatment of epilepsy; and with QuchiLI11 (Quchi (LI11) He-Sea Point) for treatment of pain in the elbow and arms.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 0.5-1 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension, radiating toward the hand; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
