Triple Energizer (San Jiao) Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-extensor muscle of little finger and extensor muscle of fingers-long extensor muscle of thumb and extensor muscle of index finger.
In the superficial layer, there are the posterior cutaneous nerve of the forearm and the tributaries of the cephalic and basilic veins. In the deep layer, there are the posterior interosseous artery and vein and the posterior interosseous nerve.


Location:
Stretch the arm, pronate the palm; 2 cun directly above the midpoint of the dorsal stria of the wrist, between ulna and radius, on the opposite side of NeiguanPC6(Neiguan (PC6) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point).
Function:
Clearing away the heat and activating the channels and collaterals.


Indications:
Pneumonitis, parotitis, tinnitus, deafness, hypertension, migraine, toothache, stiff neck, hemiparalysis, pain in the upper arm, poliomyelitis sequelae, enuresis, and sleeplessness.


Prescription:
Combined use with TinggongSI19 (Tinggong (SI19)) for treatment of tinnitus and deafness; and with FengchiGB20 (Fengchi (GB20)) for treatment of stiff neck.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 0.5-1 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension, radiating toward the hand; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
