Kidney Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-anterior sheath of rectus muscle of abdomen-rectus muscle of abdomen.
In the superficial layer, there are the superficial epigastric vein, the anterior branches of the anterior branches of the 7th to 9th thoracic nerves and the accompanying arteries and veins. In tne deep layer, there are the branches or tributaries of the superior epigadtric artery and vein, the muscular branches of the anterior branches of 7th to 9th thoracic nerves and the related intercostal arteries
and veins.


Location:
Supine position; firstly, locate ZhongwanCV12(Zhongwan (CV12) Front-Mu Point of the Stomach) 4 cun vertically above umbilicus, then 0.5 cun lateral to ZhongwanCV12(CV12).
Function:
Regulating the function of the intestines and stomach, and recurperating qi and blood.


Indications:
Abdominal distension and pain, vomiting, icterus, pulmonary emphysema, pleuritis, peritonitis, malaria, conjunctival congestion, and leucoma.


Prescription:
Combined use with ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of chronic gastritis; and with DingchuanEXB1 (EX-B1) for treatment of bronchial asthma.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 1-1.5 cun deep; needling response: local distension and heaviness; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
Note:
Yindu (KI19) Don`t puncture deeply and lift, thrust and twirl repeatedly, or else the needle would penetrate the posterior wall of vagina musculi recti abdominis-the transverse fascia-the
extraperitoneal axungia-the parital peritoneum-the peritoneal cavity-the visceral peritoneum and the stomach by its tip, and injure the gastric wall.
