Kidney Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-medial side of calcaneus.
In the superficial layer, there are the medial cutaneous branches of the suphenous nerve to the leg and the tributaries of the great saphenous vein. In the deep layer, there are the posterior tibial artery and vein, the medial and lateral plantar nerve and the medial calcaneal branches from the tibial nerve.


Location:
Upright sitting or supine position; firstly, locate TaixiKI3(Taixi(KI3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point), 1 cun vertically below TaixiKI3(KI3), above calcaneus.
Function:
Regulating menstruation and function of the lower-jiao.


Indications:
Amenorrhea, hypomenorrhea, hysteroptosis, myopia, and cystospasm.


Prescription:
Combined use with ZhongjiCV3 (Zhongji (CV3) Front-Mu Point of the Bladder) for treatment of anuresis.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 0.3-0.5 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
