Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-abductor muscle of little toe.
There are the lateral dorsal curaneous nerve of the foot and the lateral vein of the foot (the small saphenous vein) in this area.
Location:
Sit upright, hang down two shanks, with two feet touching the ground or lie supinely; at the dorso-ventral boundary and the lateral border of the foot, on the anterior and inferior border of the tuberosity of the 5th metatarsal bone.
Function:
Tranquilizing the mind, inducing resuscitation, relaxing the muscles and tendons, and strengthening the waist and knee.
Indications:
Myocarditis, meningitis, cerebral hemorrhage, epilepsy, infantile convulsions, pain in the waist and legs, rachitis, headache, rigid neck, and malaria.
Prescription:
Combined use with NeiguanPC6 (Neiguan (PC6) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point) for treatment of myocarditis; with YintangEXHN3 (EX-HN3), and FengchiGB20 (Fengchi (GB20)) for treatment of epistaxis; and with DazhongKI4 (Dazhong (KI4) Luo-Connecting Point) and DalingPC7 (Daling (PC7) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point) for managment of terror and fear.
Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 0.3-0.5 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension; moxibustion: using 3-7 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 10 min.
