Urine Bladder Meridian

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-gastrocnemius muscle-soleus muscle.
In the superficial layer, there are the small saphenous vein and the medial cutaneous nerve of the calf. In the deep layer, there are the posterior tibial artery and vein, the peroneal artery and vein and the tibial nerve.


Location:
Lie pronely or sit upright with drooping feet; at the centre of musculus gastrocnemius, between HeyangBL55(Heyang (BL55)) and ChengshanBL57(Chengshan (BL57)).
Function:
Relaxing the muscles and tendons and removing obstruction from the channels and collaterals, strengthening the waist and knee, and regulating the function of the large intestine.


Indications:
Backache, systremma, gastrocnemius muscle paralysis, paralysis of the lower limbs, hemorrhoid, vomiting, Diarrhea, and constipation.


Prescription:
Combined use with HuiyangBL35 (Huiyang (BL35)) for treatment of protoptosis; with YanglinquanGB34 (Yanglingquan (GB34) He-Sea Point, Influential Point of Tendon) for treatment of gastrocnemius muscle paralysis; with ChengfuBL36 (Chengfu (BL36)), WeizhongBL40 (Weizhong (BL40) He-Sea Point, Lower Confluent Point), YangguSI5 (Yanggu (SI5) Jing-River Point) for the treatment of hemorrhoid; with YongquanKI1 (Yongquan (KI1) Jing-Well Point), and the tender point located in dorso-ventral boundary of the median posterior heel for treatment of cramp in case of cholera morbus.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly, 1-1.5 cun deep; needling response: local numbness and distension, radiating toward the foot; moxibustion: using 3-5 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
