We apply acupuncture Zhongzhu (TE3) Shu-Stream Point combining with lumbar exercise for the treatment of 100 cases of acute lumbar muscle sprain, satisfying effect is gained. The result is reported in the following.

There are 100 cases, among them, 91cases are unilateral lumbar sprain, 7 cases are bilateral lumbar sprain, 2 cases are lumbar vertebrae sprain. 76 cases have 3 to 4 days disease history, 17 cases have 5 to 7 days disease history, 7 cases have more than 10 days disease history, and most of the cases are caused by unbalanced force.

Treatment method: selecting TE3, needling the point in the healthy side if there is unilateral lumbar sprain, needling both TE3 if there is bilateral lumbar sprain, or needling either TE3 alternatively. Patients take seating or erect position, using reinforcing and reducing method until patients feel sore, numbness, distention and heavy. Apply diverse technique for patients with different condition, needling for 2-3 minutes, requesting the patients for lumbar action. As for the patients whose lumbar cannot move, massaging the lumbar after getting the needling response, conducting bending, stretching, and rotation until the muscle become soft. The lumbar exercise can be operated from slow to fast and from small range to big range, retaining the needle for 20 minutes when the symptoms are relieved, conducting needling manipulation for 1 or 2 times during the process, meanwhile requesting the patients insist on the lumbar exercise.  Apply cupping on painful area if there is pain after stopping needling, employing CO2 laser illumination if possible, 1 treatment per day.

Result: total effective rate is 96%. For most cured patients, only 1-5 times treatments are used.
