Elderly vertebrobasilar insufficiency vertigo is one kind of commonly seeing ischemic cerebrovascular disease for elderly, it is caused by cerebral arteriosclerosis, blood viscosity increased, cervical part of vertebral artery compression, or, cervical sympathetic nerve stimulation results in vertebral artery spasm etc, which causes vertebrobasilar artery lumen narrowing, slow rate of blood flow leading to insufficient blood supply to the brain. All the 102 patients who have Vertebrobasilar Insufficiency Vertigo take dizziness as the main symptom are divided into treatment group (62 cases) and contrast group (40 cases). Self-built Xuan Yun Ping Tang includes Shu Di Huang, He Shou Wu, Rou Cong Rong, Shan Zhu Yu, Tu Si Zi, Sang Ji Sheng, Huang Qi, Dang Gui, Dan Shen, Chuan Xiong, Ge Gen, Tian Ma, Shi Chang Pu, Wei Ling Xian, Gan Cao. Adding Yin Yang Huo, Xian Mao if there is kidney yang deficiency; adding Nu Zhen  Zi, Han Lian Cao if there is kidney yin deficiency; adding Dan Nan Xing, Jiang Can if there is phlegm obstruction. 1 decoction each day, taking via 2 times, one time in the morning and evening, 14 days are one course.
As for contrast group, giving 500 ml low molecular dextran plus 16-20 ml Fu Fang Dan Shen parenteral solution for intravenously guttae, 1 time each day, 14 days are one course, assessing the treatment effect of the 2 groups after one course.

Result: the total effective rates are 91.94% and 77.5% in treatment group and contrast group respectively.
