These cases are divided into treatment group (folk formula) and control group (western medicine). There are 86 cases in treatment group and 80 cases in control group. The conditions of both groups are basically same, with comparability. Treatment: in treatment group, Du Zhong 20g, Shan Zha 30g and raw Di Huang 30g are applied as basic formula. For obvious hyperactive liver yang, Tian Ma, Gou Teng, Gui Jia and Niu Xi are added to suppress liver yang, clearing away heat and eliminate wind; for obstruction of phlegm in middle energizer, Ban Xia and Bai Zhu are added to dry dampness, remove phlegm, strengthen spleen and harmonize stomach. In control group, Captopril, Nitrendipine, Nifedipine and Hydrochlorothiazide are applied, and the dose is decided according to blood pressure. One curative course of both groups is 3 months (maintenance dose is not included). Following up the cases for one year. Results: the total effect is 91.86% in treatment group and 76.25% in control group, with obvious differences.
