Therefore, pulse taking has principles, yet modesty and calmness are most precious. The pulse in spring is slightly floating as if fish swims in waves. The pulse in summer is at the skin, so floating as if all things are abundant. The pulse in autumn sinks under the skin as if dormant worms will burrow to hide. The pulse in winter is near the bones as if worms hibernate and people hide in rooms. Hence the saying: to know the zang-organs inside, doctors can press deeply to get the information. To know the channels outside, pulse feeling enables the doctors to master clearly form the end to the beginning. These six items are the great law of pulse feeling.
