The Emperor asked: "How can we diagnose skin distention?"

Qi Bo answered: "Skin distention is due to cold stays in the skin. The skin sounds like a drum when tapped, and yet is not solid. The abdomen is enlarged. The body swells overall. The skin is thick. The pitting does not rise when the abdomen is pressed. The color of the skin remains unchanged. These are symptoms of skin distention."
