Topic on discussion of vital-qi corresponding to heaven in the plain questions (Third article part III)Posted by: admin on Apr 06, 2009 - 01:25 AMThe yang qi is just like the sun in the sky. If the yang qi loses its normal place, the life will be shortened without conspicuous sign. Therefore, the motions of the celestial bodies are normal due to the sunlight. The yang qi of man runs upward, acting as a defensive force by the same mechanism. When one is attacked by cold, the defensive qi moves flexibly as a pivot to resist cold. The patient’s regular life becomes abnormal as been frightened. The yang qi is going to float out correlatively. When one is assailed by summer heat, perspiration occurs. The patient either has rough gasp when being vexed, or becomes delirious when being quiet. The patient’s body is as hot as burning coal, and the heat will evaporate along with perspiration. When one is hit by dampness, the patient feels the head has been wrapped and heavy. If the damp-heat cannot be dispelled, it will make the large and small sinews shrinking or loosening. The shrinking sinews become spasm, the loosening sinews become atrophy. When one is assailed by qi deficiency, edema ensues. If the four limbs edema happens in alternation, it is the sign of exhausting of yang qi. Key Words: discussion of vital-qi corresponding to heaven, in the plain questions |
