Nei Jing

The Emperor asked: "Can you tell me the functions of the qi of the middle warmer?"

Qi Bo answered: "The qi of the middle-warmer stays at the middle part of the abdomen under the upper-warmer. The middle-warmer receives the essential qi of foods. It discards dross, purifies fluids, and transports them to the vessels of the lungs. There, they become blood to nourish the body. Nothing is more valuable than the blood. Thus, it is exclusively permitted to run in the channels. It is called nutritive qi."

Key Words: generation and meeting of nutritive qi and defensive qi, in the divine pivot
