Nei Jing

The Emperor asked: “How could we know the surpluses or shortages of the six kinds of substances, the amount of the qi, deficient or replete brain and marrow, and the clearness or turbidity of the blood and vessels?”

Qi Bo answered: “collapse of the essence makes deafness; collapse of the qi makes blurry eyes; collapse of the liquid makes the muscular striae open and lead to the sweat profuse; collapse of the fluid makes inconvenient to flex and stretch the joints, wizened with no sheen on face, reduced brain, the shanks feeble, and frequent tinnitus; collapse of the blood makes the skin pale and colorless; collapse of the vessel qi makes the pulses empty and weak.”

Key Words: decisive qi, in the divine pivot
