Nei Jing

A professional acupuncturist always needles the yang part when the yin part is ill, and needles the yin part when the yang part is ill. He uses the right to treat the left, and the left to treat the right. He has to know from himself to his patients, and from the exterior to the interior. He needs to detect the excess and deficient rules. He can foretell the development of the disease from seeing its micro-appearance. This ensures no delay in treatment.

Observing the colors and taking the pulse, a doctor is versed in diagnosis of yin and yang first. The doctor observes the facial clearness and turbidity, and then he can find the place of illness. By observing gasps and listening to the sounds of breathing, he knows what the patient is suffering from. Taking the pulse, he identifies the disease. By pressing the chi and cun parts at the pulse and noticing the floating, sinking, slippery, or uneven pulse, the doctor understands why the disease has occurred. Thus, correct diagnostic method leads to a perfect treatment.
