Nei Jing

Evils come like swift winds and rain, so experienced doctors first treat the skin and body hair, then the muscles, then the sinews and vessels, then the six fu-organs, and last the five zang-organs. In treating the five zang organs, the patient is half alive and half dead.

Evils of the heaven usually damage the five zang-organs. The cold and heat of water and grains usually damage the six fu-organs. The dampness of the earth often damages the skin, muscles, sinews and vessels.
