Herpes Zoster

Scalp Acupuncture

Herpes zoster is an acute infectious disease which affecting to neurons and skin.
At the early stage of herpes zoster, the patients usually feel a burning and pricking pain over the cutaneous area along with a hypersensitivity to pain in the neighbouring region. 3-4 days later, papules appear on the skin surface and then turn into clusters of vesicles. Later on, the vesicles gradually become shrivelled and change into crusts. Small scars may remain permanently on the skin after the crusts are peeled off. The post-herpetic neuralgia is more common in old patient of herpes zoster, it can be several weeks to a few months or even forever. Some patients may remain cutaneous pruritus.

The selection of stimulation: Sensory area, and motor and sensory area of foot on both sides.
 
Scalp acupuncture may produce an effective cure to pain caused by herpes zoster. If combining with needling at Yanglingquan (GB34) He-Sea Point, Influential Point of Tendon and Taichong (LR3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point, the treatment result can be great.
