Retaining time of cupping has closed relation with clinical treatment result. In general, retaining time of flash cupping, moving cupping and scraping cupping depend that there are spots with blood stagnation; other cupping like fixed cupping depend that there are local red color change on the skin, purplish spots, swelling or even locally burning sensation; amount of blood given by bleeding cupping depend on duration of cupping. Most retaining time of cupping is from 10 to 20 minutes, shorter for big size cup and longer for small size cup; shorter for old patient, children or patient with weak constitution and longer for young and strong patients; shorter for recent or mild disease, numbness syndrome and longer for chronic or severe disease, pain syndrome; shorter for head, face, neck, shoulder, arms and longer for back, lumbar region, abdomen, legs. At the same time, tolerance of cupping to patient is another element.
