Internal Medicine

Type 1: Wandering Bi
Symptoms:
The scurrying pain of limbs and joints in all direction, without fixed location or the tracting pain radiated to distal end, the limbs can be only kept inflexion, otherwise, undurable pain and numbness would be produced.
Principle of treatment:
Local acupoints and some acupoints along the meridian are selected mainly, and supplemented with Ashi points. Puncture superficially with filiform needle with reducing method or tapping with cutaneous needle.
Prescription:
Fengmen (BL12) (Fengmen (BL12)), Geshu (BL17) (Geshu (BL17)), Ganshu (BL18) (Ganshu (BL18)), Xuehai (SP10) (Xuehai (SP10)), Sanyinjiao (SP6) (Sanyinjiao (SP6)).
Modification according to symptoms:
Jianliao (TE14) (SJ14), Jianyu (LI15) (Jianyu (LI15)), Naoshu (SI10) (Naoshu (SI10)) are applied to the shoulder; Quchi (LI11) He-Sea Point (Quchi (LI11) He-Sea Point), Hegu (LI4) Yuan-Source Point (Hegu (LI4) Yuan-Source Point), Tianjing (TE10) (SJ10), Waiguan (TE5) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point (SJ5), Chize (LU5)He-Sea Point (Chize (LU5)He-Sea Point) to the elbow and arm; Yangchi (TE4) Yuan-Source Point (SJ4), Waiguan (SJ5), Yangxi (LI5) Jing-River Point (Yangxi (LI5) Jing-River Point), Wangu (GB12) (Wangu (SI4) Yuan-Primary Point) to the wrist; Shuigou (GV26) (DU26), Shenzhu (GV12) (DU12), Yaoyangguan (GV3) (DU3) to the back and spinal area; Huantiao (GB30 )(Huantiao (GB30 )), Juliao (GB29) (Juliao (GB29)), Xuanzhong (GB39) Influential Point of the Marrow (Xuanzhong (GB39) Influential Point of the Marrow) to the upper thigh; Zhibian (BL54) ( Zhibian (BL54)), Chengfu (BL36) (Chengfu (BL36)), Yinlingquan (SP9) He-Sea Point (Yinlingquan (SP9) He-Sea Point) to the thigh; Dubi (ST35) (Dubi (ST35)), Liangqiu (ST34) (Liangqiu (ST34)), Yanglingquan (GB34) He-Sea Point, Influential Point of Tendon (Yanglingquan (GB34) He-Sea Point, Influential Point of Tendon), Xiyangguan (GB33) (Xiyangguan (GB33)) to the knee; Shenmei (Shenmai (BL62) The Eight Confluent Point), Zhaohai (KI6) The Eihgt Confluent Point (Zhaohai (KI6) The Eihgt Confluent Point), Kunlun (BL60) Jing-River Point (Kunlun (BL60) Jing-River Point), Qiuxu (GB40) Yuan-Primary Point (Qiuxu (GB40) Yuan-Primary Point) to the ankle.
Type 2: Painful Bi
Symptoms:
Mainly attacked by pathogenic wet cold, severe pain in the joint and muscle with cold feeling, alleviated when warming and pressing the painful area, thin white tongue coating, float and tense pulse.
Principle of treatment:
Local acupoints and some acupoints along the meridian are selected mainly, Ashi points as supplementary . Deeppuncture with filiform needle and retaining needle ,or with filiform needle, or with moxibustion, moxibustion with warming needle or ginger-moxibustion.
Prescription:
Shenshu (BL23) (Shenshu (BL23)), Guanyuan (CV4) Front-Mu Point of the SmallIntestine (RN4)
Modification according to symptoms:
Jianliao (SJ14), Jianyu (LI15), Naoshu (SI10) are applied to the shoulder; Quchi (LI11), Hegu (LI4), Tianjing (SJ10), Waiguan (SJ5), Chize (LU5) to the elbow and arm; Yangchi (SJ4), Waiguan (SJ5), Yangxi (LI5), Wangu (SI4) to the wrist; Shuigou (DU26), Shenzhu (DU12), Yaoyangguan (DU3) to the back and spinal area; Huantiao (GB30), Juliao (GB29), Xuanzhong (GB39) to the upper thigh; Zhibian (BL54), Chengfu (BL36), Yinlingquan (SP9) to the thigh; Dubi (ST35), Liangqiu (ST34), Yanglingquan (GB34), Xiyangguan (GB33) to the knee; Shenmei (BL62), Zhaohai (KI6), Kunlun (BL60), Qiuxu (GB40) to the ankle.
Type 3: Fixed Bi
Symptoms:
Mainly attacked by damp, severe pain in the joint and muscle, swelling skin and muscle without red color, pain in fixed area, aggravated in cold and damp weather, white and greasyfur, soft floating pulse.
Principle of treatment:
The local acupoints and some acupoints along the meridian are selected mainly, Ashi points as supplementary. Puncture with moxa, or warm-puncture, cutaneous-needle, cupping therapy are also applied.
Prescription:
Pishu (BL20) (Pishu (BL20)),Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point), Yinlingquan (SP9)
Modification according to symptoms:
Jianliao (SJ14), Jianyu (LI15), Naoshu (SI10) are applied to the shoulder; Quchi (LI11), Hegu (LI4), Tianjing (SJ10), Waiguan (SJ5), Chize (LU5) to the elbow and arm; Yangchi (SJ4), Waiguan (SJ5), Yangxi (LI5), Wangu (SI4) to the wrist; Shuigou (DU26), Shenzhu (DU12), Yaoyangguan (DU3) to the back and spinal area; Huantiao (GB30), Juliao (GB29), Xuanzhong (GB39) to the upper thigh; Zhibian (BL54), Chengfu (BL36), Yinlingquan (SP9) to the thigh; Dubi (ST35), Liangqiu (ST34), Yanglingquan (GB34), Xiyangguan (GB33) to the knee; Shenmai (BL62) The Eight Confluent Point (BL62), Zhaohai (KI6), Kunlun (BL60), Qiuxu (GB40) to the ankle.
Type 4: Heat Bi
Symptoms:
Wind and damp transformed into heat, swelling and severe pain in the joints of four extremitates, limited movement, swelling and sore throat, fever, hyperhidrosis, dark urine with burning sensation, thick greasy yellow fur, soft floating and rapid pulse.
Principle of treatment:
The local acupoints and the acupoints along the meridian are selected, and Ashi points as supplementary. Superficial puncture with filiform needle with reducing method, or tapping puncture with cutaneous needle.
Prescription:
Dazhui (GV14) (DU14), Quchi (LI11)
Modification according to symptoms:
Jianliao (SJ14), Jianyu (LI15), Naoshu (SI10) are applied to the shoulder; Quchi (LI11), Hegu (LI4), Tianjing (SJ10), Waiguan (SJ5), Chize (LU5) to the elbow and arm; Yangchi (SJ4), Waiguan (SJ5), Yangxi (LI5), Wangu (SI4) to the wrist; Shuigou (DU26), Shenzhu (DU12), Yaoyangguan (DU3) on the back and spinal area; Huantiao (GB30), Juliao (GB29), Xuanzhong (GB39) to the upper thigh; Zhibian (BL54), Chengfu (BL36), Yinlingquan (SP9) to the thigh; Dubi (ST35), Liangqiu (ST34), Yanglingquan (GB34), Xiyangguan (GB33) to the knee; Shenmei (BL62), Zhaohai (KI6), Kunlun (BL60), Qiuxu (GB40) to the ankle.
