Type 1: Deficiency type
Symptoms:
Serious dizziness, blurred vision without feeling that everything turns around him, with symptoms relapsed or aggravated under tiresome condition, sallow complexion, mental weariness, palpitation, insomnia, soreness in the waist, frequent tinnitus, pale tongue, tiny pulse.
Principle of treatment:
Strengthening and nourishing qi-blood. Select the points from Back-Shu, the Du Meridian, the Gall Bladder Meridian of Foot-Shaoyang and the Stomach Meridian of Foot-Yangming. Puncture the points with reinforcing method. Moxibustion is applicable.
Prescription:
Baihui (GV20) (DU20),Fengchi (GB20) (Fengchi (GB20)),Geshu (BL17) (Geshu (BL17)),Shenshu (BL23) (Shenshu (BL23)), and Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point).
Modification according to symptoms:
For palpitation, Neiguan (PC6) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point (Neiguan (PC6) Luo-Connecting Point the Eight Confluent Point) is added. For insomnia, Shenmen (HT7) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Primary Point (Shenmen (HT7) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Primary Point) is added. For tinnitus, Tinggong (SI19) (Tinggong (SI19)) is added.
Type 2: Excess type
Symptoms:
Paroxysmal dizziness, blurred vision with everything turning around him, distending pain in the head, or the head aches as if it were wrapped up tightly, irritability,hot temper, sensation of fullness and oppression in the chest and hypochondrium, nausea, vomiting and profuse sputum, loss of appetite, red tongue, thick and greasy fur or accompanied with floating yellow fur, taut and strength pulse or slippery and rapid pulse.
Principle of treatment:
Calming the liver energy and suppressing yang, regulating the stomach energy and resolving phlegm. Select the points from the Ren Meridian, the Du Meridian and three Yin Meridianss of the feet. Puncture with reducing method. Moxibustion is unnecessary.
Prescription:
Zhongwan (CV12) Front-Mu Point of the Stomach (RN12), Yinlingquan (SP9) He-Sea Point (Yinlingquan (SP9) He-Sea Point), Xingjian (LR2) Ying-Spring Point (Xingjian (LR2) Ying-Spring Point), Shuiquan (KI5) Xi-Cleft Point (Shuiquan (KI5) Xi-Cleft Point), and Yintang (Ex-HN3).
Modification according to symptoms:
For distension in the hypochondrium, Yanglingquan (GB34) He-Sea Point, Influential Point of Tendon (Yanglingquan (GB34) He-Sea Point, Influential Point of Tendon) is added. For heavy headache as if it were wrapped tightly, Touwei (ST8) ( Touwei (ST8)) is added.
Cautions and precautions:
Most of the dizziness due to internal disease feel no real rotation. Dizziness of internal ear occurs paroxysmally. The patient has serious feeling of rotation of outdoor scene or shaken feeling of the body and is unable to sit down, aggravated when body position is changed. Accompanied with tinnitus, poor hearing and eyeball nystagmus.
