Cold and Heat

Posted by: admin on Aug 01, 2008 - 09:19 PM
Pathogenesis

Cold and heat relate to two different natures of disease. Diseases caused by the pathogenic of heat, summer heat, fire or dryness are mostly heat syndromes; and those caused by the pathogenic of cold are mostly cold syndromes. But the latter may turn into the former.

Combining with interior and exterior, excess and deficiency, there are many different types of cold and heat. For example, the deficiency of yin or yang may respectively lead to heat or cold syndromes of the deficiency type. These should be distinguished from those of the excess type.

Key words: Cold, heat, TCM
